Hola amigos! Menos de cuatro más días hasta que me fuera a Guatemala. Alright I will give the Spanish a break for those who lack second language talent :) Anyways, less than four short days till I am off to Guatemala. As I count down the days I am awe of God's provision for this trip. Everything seems to be coming together just how it is supposed to and we find ourselves incredibly blessed financially, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and soon to be mentally once midterms are done tomorrow. I believe this weekend will provide the rest and mental preparation our team needs before we head out Monday morning at 9:30am. Because I have so many prayer warriors out there I decided I would include a day-by-day schedule for you to know what we're up to and some more details that may be helpful :)
Monday (03/05/2012)-Travel Day
We will be leaving Northwestern College around 9:30am and heading to Omaha, Nebraska to venture through security, customs, and a busy airport. Our flight takes out middle afternoon around 3:30pm and we will have a layover in Texas to finally then arrive in Guatemala City late evening. We will then drive to Chimaltenango where Paradise Bound Ministries is located and we will be staying. Please pray for safety in travel, great weather, and a clear run through at customs.
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday (03/06/2012-03/08/2012)-Construction Days
During these days we will be building four houses. On the third and final day the houses will be dedicated to the families and the gospel will be presented to express why we did this for them. Many families experience and accept Jesus Christ for the first time, please be in prayer especially for Thursday's dedication of the house!
- 6:00-7:00am: Breakfast, and personal devotions
- 7:00am: Leave for work site
- 8:00am: Begin construction
- 12-12:30pm: Lunch on site
- 12:30-5pm: Construction, clean up and depart for the mission base
- 6:00-6:30pm: Evening meal
- 6:30-8pm: Free time, showers, relaxing
- 8:00pm: Team devotions
Friday/Saturday (03/09/2012-03/10/2012)-Medical Clinic Days
These two days we will be doing village ministry through remote mobile medical clinics/outreaches. Each day we will travel to a different remote village targeting areas no one else has ever reached. Half of the team will be serving in the medical clinic the other half will be building relationships with the villagers. Once it turns to night we will be showing a Jesus film DVD presenting the gospel followed by a pastor sharing a message. Before leaving we will distribute staple foods to the families. Be in prayer for open hearts and room for the Holy Spirit as well as medical concerns we will be overseeing.
- 7:00-8:00am: Breakfast and personal devotions
- 8:00-11:30am: Sorting/preparing meds, toys, beans, rice, and Bibles; team devotions
- Noon: Lunch and leave for medical clinic/outreach
- 2:30-3:00pm: Team arrives at the village, sets up clinic
- 3:30pm-?: Medical Clinic/Outreach as outlined above, and return to mission base
Sunday (03/11/2012)-Antigua and Worship Day
This day will be our 'free' and cultural day as we explore the city of Antigua together, shop in the markets, get to know the beautiful culture, and eat out. We are also blessed with the opportunity to worship with the town we built houses for at church later on in the day. Please be in prayer for safety, enjoying the presence of each other, and worshiping across cultures.
Monday (03/12/2012)-Travel Day
We will be heading out early to travel back to Guatemala City airport then proceed to fly to Texas and finally land in Omaha. We will then travel back to Orange City and be back early evening. Please pray specifically for customs in Guatemala because re-entering the United States is typically the hardest part of the journey!
And thus will be our mission trip to Guatemala. We will have internet access but only to the specific blog site the ministry has set up for. PLEASE follow updates on there as I will be writing about my experience on that blog instead of this one. Also PLEASE leave encouraging comments for my team and I as we will be very tired and out of energy but encouraged by our loved ones and the work God is doing in our time there. Follow (click here for our team blog) this link to get there, we appreciate it in advance :) Thank you for the support! Labels: God, Guatemala, prayer, thankfulness, travel, Wisdom
