Holland Lake at Lebanon Hills Regional Park |
Forest ranger day one is complete and I am loving every minute of it! The picture to the right just so happens to be of my office this summer as I work at Lebanon Hills Regional Park as a seasonal park attendant (self-proclaimed forest ranger). I started a long day of orientation today from 9am-5pm however I cannot complain in the least bit as five of these hours were spent geocashing, hiking three miles, and taking paddle boards into the middle of one of the lakes...oh and did I mention on Wednesday we will be portaging? Now that is my kind of summer job :)
I understand not everyday will be full of this much play and recreation however today has solidified to me the Lord's providence and beauty. I was so upset this whole entire year of not being able to go back to Camp Geneva as a counselor and on top of that never finding a nanny job as badly as I wanted one for this summer. Yet the Lord provided this amazing opportunity pretty much out of the blue to be in the great outdoors, practice simple living, teach others, and get to know others on a deep and personal level. How could I have ever doubted my Father? He is so good, to Him be all the glory.
As we ventured into the woods today I was overwhelmed by the intricacies of nature and quite honestly humbled by it. The squirmy ripples in the water, the delicately folded leaves, the rough bark on trees, the butterflies dancing, the jumbo marshmallow clouds against a voided blue sky, My God is so big, so glorious, so precise in creating this masterpiece of a world. Each and every turn I could not help but praise the Lord with Psalm 24:1, "The earth is the Lord's and everything in it; the world and all who live in it."
