Hello friends :)
For those in the Midwest I hope you are getting outside and enjoying this beautiful weather! This past weekend I had the opportunity to sew with an absolutely wonderful woman from my church, Vicki Schrock. I know the basics of sewing but have been greatly anticipating this summer and the inseparable bond I hope to form with my sewing machine. Vicki helped me make a dress that I paid a total of $6 for! How awesome is that? I used a shirt for the top that I already owned and then paid $6 for three yards of fabric that were on sale. It was a fairly easy project that took only a few hours, granted there were six kids running around us and we were working without a pattern.
Essentially all it was is making a skirt and then attaching it to the shirt and wahla! You have a dress :) And of course the belt is an added bonus. I hope to make many more this summer and will definitely work on a picture tutorial once I am home...stay tuned!

Another awesome story to share regarding sewing... so last night at youth group I was simply sharing with one of the leaders what Vicki and I worked on this past weekend and she said that her and her husband had just come back from Des Moines with bins upon bins of fabric for the church. She insisted that I look through it to see if there was any fabric I could use for my summer projects. I ended up looking through three huge bins and took what I would use! Once I was done it didn't even look like I had made a dent in it. I was so blessed by the generosity of the ladies at church and am super excited to use the fabric for dresses, headbands, and decorating my wing next year. It was such a beautiful example of hospitality that inspired me.
