My Style // Inside the Closet

I talk all the time about living a simplified life especially when it comes to my wardrobe. Gone are the days of having an explosion of clothes that only kind of fit, I only sort of like, or do not serve a specific purpose. You have heard me sing of the praises and joys many times before but now it is time to give you an in depth look of my closet.

These pieces are my go to, simplified wardrobe staples. You have likely seen them gracing other style posts and working their good looks in my everyday outfits. There is nothing fancy to my philosophy other than keeping it straightforward and versatile while staying true to myself.

The Shirts
My philosophy for shirts is all about the layers. If each one can be worn with different pants, dresses, and sweaters than outfits multiply right out of my closet. These shirts live and breath flexibility and comfort for me in the best possible way.

The Sweaters

Don't be fooled by the photos, I do own a few more sweaters than just these two. I swoon over these ones and love throwing them on in the winter or cool summer nights to keep warm. If you have not picked up on it yet, neutrals with a few pops of color are the in thing with my wardrobe as of lately.

The Pants
Who wants in on a Laura secret? I really don't like pants. My closet is primarily made up of dresses and skirts that are versatile from summer to winter. But for the occasional times I do wear pants, I keep it simple to three or four pairs. These polka dot pixies from Old Navy are my fave work pants. Black jeans go with everything and can be dressed up or down. And of course jeans to slip on whenever needed.

The Dresses
About loving dresses, these three may look basic but are my absolute best friends when it comes to getting ready in the morning. Pairing each of them with a sweater over, a shirt under, a chunky necklace, or a scarf makes for endless outfit options. They are just as date night friendly as they are running around town or heading to work.

The Jewelry
When I am not wearing a scarf, I am wearing a necklace. Maybe it is a weird neck thing I have going on but I do not like being bare. As with most of my closet, these pieces can be mixed and matched with a variety of outfits. I especially love the pearl strand and how elegant it is with all outfits.

The Shoes
Chacos are my feet's heartthrob, but you know that already. When we aren't out adventuring in Chacos or hiking boots, I am trekking around in these black boots or little gray oxfords in the winter.

The Scarves
Welcome to the one portion of my wardrobe that does not fit the simplified model. My scarves are my babies and I will forever love them. As someone who is constantly cold, it is like wearing a blanket around my neck. To give you an idea of just how many scarves this girl owns, this photo shows about half of them #yikes.

There you have it, the ins and outs of Laura's closet. Add to it the basics like t-shirts, work out apparel, and tank tops to call it good. If you are considering a simplified wardrobe and have yet to take the leap, I encourage you to do it now! You will experience freedom from materialism, creativity in your clothes, and less time looking at your closet wondering what in the world should I wear today.
